Guestbook for 01-19-2010 Dr. Francis Burgess Abandonded House
7.Cheryll Smith(non-registered)
It breaks my heart they tore this house down. Every time I went past it I dreamed of restoring it but never knew of it being up for sale or I would have tried anything I could to have bought it. Thank you for these pics as I was so curious what the house looked like inside. The cemetery they put in its place is beautiful but nothing like that home was.

I am not a Lawrence Co. native, but my mother was and often visited this grand home it its glory days. She would accompany her grandmother to see Dr. Burgess. It is a shame that this home could not have been restored .Thankful that you took the time to preserve it through these photos and thank you for sharing them.

I would have loved to have seen this house in its glory days. I met Dr. Burgess once and he was friendly and still very handsome in the 70's. Being from Lawrence County this is part of my history and I sure hope the house can be restored at least somewhat so maybe one day I can actually visit this house again. Rest in Peace , Dr, Burgess. You was a great man. Greater than you actually realized.

Thank you for the lovely photos. Would love to have photos of the graves that are on the property. 5 headstones, I think. I'm willing to pay anyone to go and shoot them for me. I'm in New Orleans; too far to do it myself. Thanks again, Lisa
